Metatype Sevens are the advocates of fun in this world. As part of the head sector, Sevens have many ideas and their speed of thought is much more rapid than other types. The white rabbit in Alice in Wonderland, always rushing off to the next engagement is a Sevenish type of character.
Sevens are often focused on pursuit on fun-filled activities and explorations. Unlike Sevens or Sixes, who are most cautious when approaching the external world, Sevens revel in it because their fear and anxiety lies in facing their inner world. Embracing the activities of the world is an escape: a place to hide from their inner fears.
Sevens often appear to be very happy and tend to be very upbeat. They do not stay focused on something for very long and if they are doing something they are usually already thinking about doing something else. They set a fast pace, never slowing down. They can be very accomplished people with many degrees, capabilities, interests and accomplishments. They can also be easily distracted to the point that they never accomplish anything – they can jump from one thing to the next before completion.
Sevens exemplify the idea that the grass is always greener. If they are in Paris at one of the world’s finest restaurants, they are probably planning their trip to Mexico. They are always thinking ahead and are very future oriented. They are spontaneous and fun loving. They use their analytical skills to plan new adventures and activities and they can be highly visionary.
The Sevens ability to lead, however, can be hindered by a lack of attention to detail. If they surround themselves with people who can support them, their ideas can support a nation. But it is often difficult for them to get to leadership positions because they don’t have enough support. Since they are always thinking about the future, they tend to misplace things like pens, car keys, and credit cards. This can make life difficult for a Seven. But even when they experience the sometimes disastrous consequences of their actions, they tend to pass through it with the optimism of a true player. After all, it is only a momentary setback and soon the Seven will be out adventuring once more.
There is little in this life that can stop the Sevens desire to pursue the world, to be a part of it, to gain pleasure and happiness from it, unless circumstances prevail that require the Seven to go inward and experience their internal anxiety. If they look internally and begin to deal with their fears, they will find that their fear no longer drives them at such a record speed and they can go about living their life with a bit of ease and a dose of inner peace.
In NLP terms Sevens are usually externally referenced and sort for activity. They tend to be visual. They are often distracted. They tend to view life as a party and themselves as the center of the party. By the time responsibility is handed out they have moved on. They are great fun.
